The Calpine Volunteer Fire Department was formed in the late 1920’s. In 1945, the Calpine Volunteer Fire Department was incorporated into the Sierra County Fire Protection District #1. Along with Sierraville and Sattley Volunteer Fire Departments. The Sierra County Fire Protection District #1 was formed in 1930. The Calpine Volunteer Fire Department currently has 14 members:
Sattley Volunteer Fire Department
The Sattley Fire Department is an all volunteer, non profit organization that serves the community of Sattley as well as the community within the fire district.
The state regulates that each member of the fire department is required to have a minimum number of training hours a year, and the fire department requires at least the same out of each member.
It is important that firefighters are trained so that when they arrive on the scene of an emergency, they will be able to provide the correct techniques to handle the incident.
